Arctic Coast

BelugaGet face to face with New England's only beluga whales.
Studded with jagged-rocks, glacial streams and northern evergreens, the Arctic Coast exhibit is home to the Aquarium's beluga whales. This one-acre outdoor habitat features three interconnected pools holding more than 800,000-gallons of salt water. You will get literally face to face with the beluga whales through a series of three large underwater viewing windows. Throughout the day enjoy marine mammal presentations as the Aquarium staff work up-close with the beluga whales.

A series of three 20-foot-long acrylic windows offer below-water, eye-to-eye viewing of the animals. Caves featuring bubble-shaped windows are built into the rockwork and offer children a different perspective on the belugas underwater world. Above-water viewing is provided from rocky overlooks at various levels. Visitors may enjoy seeing Aquarium staff working up-close with animals during informal marine mammal presentations throughout the day. These educational demonstrations may feature the training of the new behaviors for better veterinary care, or just promote enrichment and play time.
