Summer Camp Programs

Sea Lions and Sand Sharks
Ages 6 to 8 How much does an adult Steller sea lion weigh? Does a sea jelly have a brain? Why do some fish glow in the dark? Children love to learn about unique animals and exotic places. These full day camps offer a learning environment in which the campers are actively involved. We utilize our exhibits and animals on a daily basis while the campers explore and learn. To add to the fun we have exciting field trips planned to a variety of locations.
Sea Lions and Sand Sharks are separate camps. They highlight different animals and involve different field trips.
Sea Lions July 7 - 11, or August 4 - 8, 8:30am - 4:00pm

Explorer’s Camp
Ages 9 to 12 Calling all explorers! Venture with us as we investigate ocean exploration and discover the secrets of the underwater world. This week long camp will engage your child while they explore the ever changing world around them. Special emphasis will be focused on ocean exploration, the local surrounding habitats and the unique animals which live in them. This fun week will be packed with hands-on activities and experiments and will include time exploring the Aquarium as well as off site field trips.

Girl’s Whirl
Ages 9 to 12 It’s a camp for just the girls! Get ready to get involved! This camp encourages your child to take an active interest in the field of science. Campers will encounter and learn about a variety of marine animals, get out and about to explore local habitats and get to talk to women excelling in the field of science. Campers will also have the opportunity to test their skills as they create enrichment toys for a variety of aquarium animals. This week will present lots of opportunity for aquarium exploration as well as field trips to exciting local destinations.

Soccer Camp
Ages 9 to 12 Kick that ball and catch that crab! Mystic Aquarium and Major League Soccer team up for the fourth year. School is just around the corner, and so is soccer season! This is the perfect time for all those young soccer players to get tuned up and ready to play in their league. Mornings consist of soccer instruction with Major League Soccer professionals. Afternoons are spent learning about the fabulous animals and habitats at the Mystic Aquarium, visiting a variety of outdoor environments and catching, identifying and counting marine life on our local shores. Soccer instruction will take place at Pine Point School in Stonington, CT.

Marine Madness
Ages 11 to 13 Tidal pools, salt marshes, coastal ponds and barrier beaches…. In Marine Madness you’ll get to look beneath the surface and explore the wonderful world of crabs, clams, algae, sea stars, and many other organisms that live in or near the sea. Help collect water samples and live specimens aboard Project Oceanology’s research vessel, Envirolab. Here, you will get to take a closer look at the ocean and uncover its many mysteries. This is a week long overnight camp held at the University of Rhode Island’s Environmental Education Center that includes a sleepover in the underwater world of Mystic Aquarium. Fee includes all meals, accommodations and research equipment.

Extended Day Program
Need help with hectic schedules? Extended day activities including crafts, games and snacks are offered from 4:00pm - 5:00pm Monday - Friday for campers ages 6 - 12.

Do I want to be a Marine Biologist?
Ages 11 to 13
There are lots of different and exciting careers in the marine biology field, from sea lion trainers and education staff to marine scientists. But what does it take to be a marine biologist? Participants will take a sneak peek behind the scenes, participate in career activities and talk with Aquarium experts who will help to answer the question “Do I want to be a Marine Biologist?”
