Volunteering & Internships
Become a Volunteer
At Mystic Aquarium & Institute for Exploration, our mission is to inspire people to care for and protect our ocean planet through education, research, and exploration.
No one plays a bigger part in achieving that mission than our valued volunteers. In fact there are entire programs that would not be possible without the support of our volunteers!
Our volunteers begin their work at the aquarium with training designed to provide a complete picture of the aquarium. During these first weeks, you will learn about many of our exhibits, and gain valuable practice with public speaking and exhibit interpretation in preparation for your work here. Following training, volunteers move out to all areas of our campus, helping to further our mission of education by teaching our guests about the animals in our exhibits.
Our volunteers are students, retirees, homemakers and full-time workers. Whether you're looking for hands-on experience in an exciting field, or the satisfaction of helping others to learn about environmental awareness, becoming a volunteer is a meaningful and rewarding way to support our very extraordinary mission.

Or, if you prefer, by printing and mailing this Volunteer Application (64KB PDF). Please note that the mailed application typically takes 2-4 weeks for processing.
